CYANT stands for the Cruising Yacht Association of the Northern Territory Inc. The Association is based in Darwin, Australia’s most northern port and gateway to Asian cruising grounds. Established in 1969, CYANT has a rich history and is closely associated with events and activities relating to sailing, cruising and keel boat racing in north Australian waters. Longstanding involvement in international yachting events in the surrounding regions - particularly Indonesia, features strongly in CYANT's history and development, and the Association founded both the Darwin Dili Race (in then Portugese Timor, now Timor Leste (East Timor)) in 1973 and the Darwin to Ambon International Yacht Race in 1976.
CYANT promotes and develops the sport of sailing in the Northern Territory of Australia through the provision of facilities, training, fostering good relationships with other sailing organisations and organising cruising and racing activities at both local, national and international levels.
